Reverse Engineering
Taking a design from concept to fabrication can involve many different paths. A crucial first step in this process is the design of a part in CAD. Whether it is a topology optimized part with a unique organic geometry or a standard fabricated bolt, simply having a scan mesh drastically limits what is feasible. 3D Directions goal is to assist the customer in achieving the end goal of having a physical part that meets and exceeds all of the desired specifications.
We offer 3D scan capabilities through photogrammetry and LiDAR as well as the Mesh to CAD experience to achieve the desired part. We can both fabricate parts or work with a wide variety of highly skilled manufacturers to help the customer achieve their ultimate desired outcome.
Rapid Prototyping
Fabricating the first part of a new design can be daunting especially for a new company. In addition, additive manufacturing despite its hype may or may not be the best solution. It's crucial to not look at everything as a nail when your experience is with a hammer. 3D Directions provides rapid prototyping services to help the customer achieve their desired result. Some times this includes matching a previous design of a legacy part to an exact replica, and sometimes in requires the first design of a new product being developed and patented. Having a wide range of experiences allows 3D Directions to carefully sort through the desired specifications and tolerances so the customer will efficiently and cost effectively have a sustainable solution.
Consulting
The staff at 3D Directions are first and foremost experts in science and engineering technologies related to additive manufacturing. This deep knowledge includes sensor development and analysis, cost model analysis, OEM laser powder bed printer design, material science both in metallurgy and polymers, optics, topology optimization, and CAD design. This deep knowledge drastically improves the ability to perform quickly and professionally on their goal of helping customers realize their desired part outcomes.
As an organization we recognized that it's not a one-size-fits-all world, and guide the customer through the best type of manufacturing for the desired material type and required specifications. We believe that cooking in your own kitchen drastically improves the quality of the advise provided.
